The Worry Solution
Oak Room

Do you worry? Most people do, including me! Apparently, we are hardwired to worry!  Let’s explore together what worry is, especially “Good Worry” and yes, “The BAD”!  Just as important: How can we worry “better,” worry less, and stop worrying needlessly??
Let’s listen (on DVD) to Martin Rossman, M.D., a clinical instructor at the University of California, San Francisco, share his 40 years of experience helping his patients break the negative cycle of unnecessary suffering.  He shares cutting-edge research and proven clinical techniques for helping us harness the power of our Healing Mind.  He distills this power into three Keys which we can think about and experience.  You will leave with new information and techniques for how to utilize the brain to heal ourselves no matter how old we are!

Our three sessions will provide opportunities to dialogue, give feedback, and ask questions.  This DVD also includes bonus material: Q & A’s from the audience in his live presentation. Recommended, but not necessary to attend, is his book, The Worry Solution: Using Your Healing Mind to Turn Stress and Anxiety into Better Health and Happiness.

Unitarian Universalist Association Common Reads 2018
Oak Room

The challenges, the call, and the opportunity of this moment in Unitarian Universalism and in the broader US American society are compelling. Unitarian Universalists must be prepared and willing to look inward, examining, exploring, and acting to dismantle white supremacy culture in our association, in our congregations and groups, and in ourselves.  At the same time, we must be prepared and willing to look outward and act to lift up Unitarian Universalist values in the political and civic challenges of our time. With that in mind, we have two common reads for the spring: Daring Democracy: Igniting Power, Meaning and Connection for the America We Want and Centering: Navigating Race, Authenticity, and Power in Ministry.
Daring Democracy: Igniting Power, Meaning and Connection for the America We Want is a fresh, surprising response to the core crisis of tightly held economic and political power drowning out American voices and values.
Centering: Navigating Race, Authenticity, and Power in Ministry centers the stories, analyses, and insights of a number of Unitarian Universalist religious professionals of color as they explore how racial identity is made both visible and invisible in Unitarian Universalist communities.

You are invited to make time to read “Daring Democracy” and “Centering”, and then join Rev. Neal to discuss the book.

Facilitator: Rev. Neal Anderson
Dates: “Wednesday, May 2 for “Centering”,
Time: 7:30—9:00 p.m.
Location: Oak Room
Suggested Donation: $5
