Israelites in Canaan, Celts in Ireland, Hau-de-no-saunee and Aztecs, Columbus, conquistadores and Pilgrims—every new culture arrives and recasts the history of the land to make their own story the center. Rev. David Takahashi Morris will look at how we use history to reinforce our right to be here and to be in control; we turn both predecessors and new arrivals into “outsiders.” We have all been newcomers. We would do well to learn that we are all part of a much greater story.
