Here are some of the other exciting 2008 activities of the Social Action Committee (also known as SAC):

• Co-sponsored a presentation by noted social change and democracy activist Frances Moore Lappe
• The "Hard Times Conference: We're All In This Together, Folks" came off without a hitch and brought over 70 people together for a day of learning and sharing. Thanks so much to Bob Lane for organizing it, and all of the MDUUC members who communcicated with the media and other faith groups, cooked and served lunch, and cleaned up afterward.
• Organized monthly Share The Plates, where the congregation has supported all types of social justice organizations
• Co-sponsored and participated in the Mt. Diablo Peace March
• Provided dinner and companionship for homeless families at Mountain Home
• Organized donated food at the Lafayette sorting station during the U.S. Postal Service's National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) National Food Drive
