Food Project

E-mail Print PDF

For the past few years, the food committee has led MDucks in community activities, providing assistance to those who do not have enough to eat. Through volunteering at the Contra Costa Food Bank, to cooking and eating with families temporarily homeless to collecting food, the Food Committee brings us opportunities to give to those in need.

Please visit the Social Justice table to sign up for current and future activities.

Future Event

Winter Nights hosting at MDUUC March 28 - April 11, 2011

The Food Committee is a major supporter of our Winter Nights project. It provides critical supplies and meal planning for the 2 weeks that MDUUC hosts the Winter Nights Rotating Shelter.

FOOD AND GOODS DONATIONS GLADLY TAKEN!

Please bring non-perishable food items and small give-away household items (such as sheets, towels, pots and pans) to the Social Justice table in Bortin Hall any Sunday. Our committees will find places for them. The Food Project uses donated food throughout the year to feed families at the Mountain View House shelter, to donate to the Contra Costa Food Bank and the Monument Crisis Center, and to prepare meals for our own Winter Nights' guests in the spring. The Homeless and Affordable Housing Committee gets household goods to people who are leaving shelters and moving into transitional housing. All of your contributions will help sustain our neighbors in need, and also help them get back on their feet.
