Chalice Children delves deep into our Unitarian Universalism to not just teach about our faith, but also to provides experiences around
- the strength of community,
- the wonder and awe that transcend everyday understanding, and
- life issues we all share.
Kindergarten – 1st Grade
Wonderful Welcome helps children identify intangible gifts central to Unitarian Universalism such as friendship, hospitality and fairness, and guides students to share these gifts with others.
Love Surrounds Us helps children explore our Unitarian Universalist principles in the context of a Beloved Community (including family/home, school, and neighborhood). Participants engage in activities that emphasize the love they feel in community.
Our Whole Lives (OWL)
Our Whole Lives supports parents in educating children about birth, babies, bodies and families. Following a Parent Meeting and Parent/Child Orientation, the 8 sessions engage children with stories, songs and activities and include a weekly HomeLink – a homework project for parents and children to do together. OWL spurs conversations between parent and child, considers UU values, and presents evidence-based information about bodies and families.
In the 2016/17 church year, OWL will be offered for this grade level beginning in October with a mandatory parent information meeting on September 11, 2016. OWL K-1 is typically offered every church year
