Unitarian Universalist Minister Jack Mendelsohn reminds us that “Inscribing your name does not transform you into an instant or born-again Unitarian-Universalist. Our religious way of life is not so much an arriving as a becoming – an ongoing process of thought and life experience.

Your signature is your affirming symbol of commitment to an open-minded, inclusive, reasoned, seasoned, compassionate and contemporary approach to life.”

We recommend several important steps to membership:

  • Attend several Sunday Services (we recommend at least six services); enjoying the hospitality of our community
  • Meet with the minister, the ministerial intern or a member of the board to express your interest.
  • Participate in other church activities, programs or groups to help develop your connection with this community.
  • Attend New UU class, offered three times a year or our MDUUC 101 offered once per month after a Sunday service.
  • Meet with a Board Member to sign the Membership Book.
  • Make an annual financial pledge to the congregation, usually with a member of the Stewardship Committee about two weeks after you sign the Membership Book.

While you may join at any time during the year, we formally recognize New Members at our Recognition Sunday service held three times/year and our New Member Dinner held twice/year.
